JOE W. KILPATRICK, CPA is the sole owner of the accounting practice he started from scratch in 1982. The practice is located immediately outside I-285 at LaVista Road, in the Tucker-Northlake area of Atlanta. Joe has over 45 years experience in accounting and auditing. The firm has two full-time CPAs, three part-time CPAs, and several other staff members.
Joe's common sense approach offers the practical help clients need to benefit from their experience with an accounting and tax professional. He frequently provides examples to illustrate the issues involved in the decisions clients must make.
Joe has helped his clients avoid millions of dollars in estate taxes and perhaps that much in income and payroll taxes. Choosing the right entity (LLC or S-Corporation;) making appropriate gifts; and using trusts can do wonders in tax planning. Getting the basic tax returns right sure helps, too. That means clients enjoy peace with the IRS.
Among non-profits, Joe's firm serves 10 audit, 2 review, and 3 full-disclosure compilation clients. Among for-profits, there are 5 audit clients, and 3 review clients. This is a total of 15 audit, 5 review, and 3 full-disclosure compilation clients. There are several dozen non-disclosure compilation clients.
Continuing professional education is vital to quality assurance. About 30 other CPA firms participate in tax, accounting and auditing courses with Joe. Each year he sponsors 72 hours of tax training covering individuals, businesses, estates and trusts. His firm prepares about 550 tax returns each year.
Annually, Joe sponsors 16 hours continuing professional education on non-profit accounting and auditing. This maintains qualifications for audits under governmental auditing standards, allowing service to the organizations that obtain government grants or operate under HUD regulations.
Clients operate under various entity forms; proprietors, regular corporations, S-Corporations, LLCs & partnerships, trusts and estates.
